A short drive from Jefferson

Turning an Oakwood lot into a finished yard

Sugar Hill Outdoors is an outdoor living contractor in Oakwood, GA, a short drive from our Jefferson home base. Many Oakwood yards are new clay lots, and others sit on stony ground above Lake Lanier. A licensed landscape architect maps your slope and sun, then renders the whole plan in 3D.

Picture it finished

A McEver Road backyard that fills up every weekend

From the deck, you look past the pool to Lake Lanier. Stone steps drop to a terrace with a grill island, and a path heads down toward the water.

Friends come up for the weekend and spend all of it out back. You grill burgers at noon and swim at sunset, and the step lights stay on late.

Lake weekends, hosted by you

  • Coffee on the deck while the lake is still glassy.
  • Kids run between the pool and the grill all afternoon.
  • Low lights guide everyone down the steps after dark.
  • Guests start asking which weekend they can come back.

Mundy Mill Road

Townhome communities like Millstone at Mundy Mill come with private rear patios. We design compact yards that suit HOA guidelines and tight access.

McEver Road lake homes

Deep-water homes along GA-53 slope toward Lake Lanier. Your yard is designed on the upland side of the Corps of Engineers line.

Flat Creek Road acreage

Larger tracts here carry hardwoods, pasture, and creek frontage. We place your outdoor rooms on high ground and route runoff away from the creek.

Oakwood or Gainesville address

Some homes near Mundy Mill carry a Gainesville mailing address. We confirm whether Oakwood Community Development or Hall County reviews your project.

Built to last

An Oakwood backyard that holds up

USDA documents the Chestatee series in Hall County: deep, stony soil on Piedmont uplands with slopes of 10 to 50 percent. Red clay sits around it, with sandy loam near the lakeshore. We plan every footing and wall for that rock and clay, and for the storm runoff these slopes shed.

Why Sugar Hill Outdoors

Why Oakwood homeowners trust our team

Our designers and builders have worked in North Georgia since 1997.

A landscape architect walks it

Two licensed landscape architects work on our staff, a title Georgia protects. One visits your yard, and the permit-ready plans you receive are yours.

One firm for every trade

A single residential and light commercial license covers grading, stonework, lighting, and planting, so one crew lead handles your job.

Belgard's first in Atlanta

Our Belgard Master Craftsman designation came first in Atlanta, backed by a documented record of hardscape work.

Pay phase by phase

Payments line up with completed construction milestones, so each draw follows progress you can see.

Oakwood and Hall County permit questions

Oakwood homeowners ask these before they start a yard project.

Yes. The City of Oakwood runs its own Community Development department, separate from Hall County's. Addresses inside city limits go through Oakwood, and unincorporated addresses go through the county. We confirm the right office and handle the permit for you.

Possibly. Some Mundy Mill listings, Millstone at Mundy Mill among them, carry a Gainesville mailing address. Your permit office depends on the parcel, so we look up yours before design begins.

Everything from the 3D design to the final inspection. Our licensed landscape architects design it, and as your pool contractor we manage every trade under one contract. We've built about 60 pools since 2010, with payments tied to milestones.

On Hall County parcels, plan on a to-scale site plan, a recorded plat, and pool plans showing the fence location, plus septic documents if you're on septic. Pools are required to have a fence. As your Oakwood pool contractor, we prepare the package and file city addresses with Community Development.

Under Hall County's standard, walls over 4 feet need a permit and a plan from a structural engineer, and shorter walls are exempt. For city addresses, we confirm Oakwood's rule with Community Development. Every wall we build over 4 feet is engineered.

Yes, on your side of the Corps line. The Corps of Engineers owns the land between its boundary line and the water, and clearing or building below it takes a Shoreline Use Permit. We design your patio, steps, and lighting on the upland yard.

Yes. Hall County requires a permit to add, enlarge, or replace a deck or porch, and city addresses check with Community Development. As your Oakwood deck contractor, we pull the permit with your project.

With us, custom pools typically start at $200 per square foot. An outdoor kitchen runs about $5,000 to $100,000. Your deck contractor prices decks at $32 to $48 per square foot in pressure-treated lumber, or $48 to $60 for composite decking with pressure-treated railings. Your consultation sets the exact number.
