What we do

Built for summer, designed for all year

A well-designed pool keeps your family outside long after swimming season. We design yours as the focal point of a backyard your family uses all year. As a custom pool builder, we've built about 60 pools since 2010.

Pool design

What goes into your custom pool

As your pool builder, we design every pool around your lot, your grade, and how your family wants to use the water.

Shape and depth

A pool shaped to fit your yard and sized for the way your family swims, lounges, and entertains.

Pebble Tec finish

We finish our pools in Pebble Tec, a pebble interior with a natural texture and rich color that looks beautiful for years.

Hot tubs and spas

Add a hot tub alongside the pool for cool evenings and year-round use. We design it into the same layout and plumbing plan.

Waterfalls

A waterfall adds sound and movement, and on a sloped lot it can spill from a retaining wall right into the pool.

Pool decks

Belgard and Techo-Bloc pavers around the water, set on a base built for North Georgia's red clay.

Safety barrier and gates

Your pool plan follows Georgia's barrier code, at least 48 inches tall with self-latching gates, and taller where your county requires it.

Why Sugar Hill Outdoors

Why homeowners choose us as their pool contractor

Sugar Hill Outdoors has designed and built in North Georgia since 1997. Your pool comes from one pool builder, from the first dig to the last paver around the water.

Licensed landscape architects

Licensed landscape architect is a legally protected title in Georgia. Two on our staff design your pool and grading before construction begins.

One contract, every trade

Excavation, plumbing, electrical, and hardscape all run under our commercial and residential contractor's license, with one point of contact.

About 60 pools since 2010

We built our first pool in 2010 and have designed and built about 60 custom pools since, each one planned for its own yard.

Paid by milestone

You pay as each phase is finished, so every payment matches work that's already in the ground.

Pool cost

What an inground pool costs

Our custom pools are priced on the full scope of work and typically start at $200 per square foot. An 800-square-foot pool, about 20 by 40 feet, starts near $160,000 before additions.

What shapes your price

  • Pool size and depth
  • Hot tubs, spas, and waterfalls
  • The pool deck around the water
  • Your lot's grade and access

Sloped lots

A sloped yard can hold a beautiful pool

A grade change can become a tiered pool with a retaining wall waterfall behind it. Our licensed landscape architects design the pool and walls together, so they read as one feature.

Frequently asked questions about inground pools

Here's what most people ask before they build a pool.

Our pools typically start at $200 per square foot, priced on the full scope of work. Hot tubs, waterfalls, and the pool deck add from there. Your design consultation gives you a real number for your yard.

Most pools take four to six months from start date. That covers excavation, structure, plumbing and electrical, the Pebble Tec interior, and the pool deck. We set your timeline during the design phase.

Pools deeper than 24 inches need a barrier at least 48 inches tall, with self-closing, self-latching gates that open outward. Gaps stay under 4 inches, the latch sits at least 54 inches high, and the barrier stands at least 20 inches from the water. Cobb County, Cherokee County, Flowery Branch, and Johns Creek require 5 feet. As your pool contractor, we build to your local code.

Yes. Hot tubs, spas, and waterfalls are designed into your pool from the start, so plumbing and structure are planned once. Each one is priced as part of your total scope.

At our starting rate of $200 per square foot, an 800-square-foot pool starts near $160,000 before additions. Your finish choices, a hot tub or waterfall, and the pool deck around it move the number up from there.

Pebble Tec is a pool interior finish made with small natural pebbles, which gives the water a rich color and the surface a natural texture. It's the pool finish we use.

Yes. A licensed landscape architect walks your property and designs around the grade. A slope often becomes a tiered pool with a retaining wall waterfall and a pool deck that steps down to the water.

Yes. We design and build your pool deck with Belgard and Techo-Bloc pavers, set on a base built for North Georgia's red clay. The pool and the deck around it come from one pool builder under one contract.
