Picture coming home from vacation and being glad to be back, because your own porch beats anywhere you went. That's what an outdoor living space should do. We've designed and built more than 2,000 outdoor living spaces since 1997, and every one starts with a licensed landscape architect.

What we build
Most combine a few of these, designed together from the first visit so every piece fits.

A custom pool brings swimming, relaxing, and time together into your backyard. We plan the pool, surrounding patio, and outdoor living areas together so the whole space works as one.

A spacious wood or composite deck gives you room for dining, lounging, and gathering outside. Under-deck systems can create a dry, usable space below an elevated deck.

A fire is what keeps you outside after dark in October and November. We've built more than 1,500 fireplaces and fire pits since 1998, from about $3,000 to $50,000.

A pavilion puts a real roof over your outdoor kitchen or seating area, designed around how you'll use it and built to the same plan as the patio. We've built more than 400 outdoor structures.

Belgard and Techo-Bloc pavers on a base built for North Georgia's red clay, so it stays level for years. We've built more than 2,500 patios since 1997.

Grill and counters built right into your patio or pavilion, with brands like Fire Magic, AOG, and Big Green Egg. We've built more than 1,000 outdoor kitchens since 2000.
Why Sugar Hill Outdoors
As an outdoor living contractor rooted in North Georgia since 1997, we design every project before it gets built, with more than 100 years of combined experience on our team.
Licensed landscape architect is a legally protected title in Georgia. Two of ours are on staff, and one of them designs your project before any crew sets foot on your property.
We're a licensed commercial and residential contractor, so paving, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical all run under one contract. You have one point of contact, and one company answers for every crew.
We were the first Belgard Master Craftsman in Atlanta and are one of the few in Georgia, a title earned through a documented record of finished work. Our crews are also Certified Techo-Pros.
Payments follow construction milestones. You pay as each phase is finished, so every dollar lines up with work you can walk out and see.
Every project follows the same three steps, from a single patio to a full backyard.
A licensed landscape architect spends one to two hours on your property. We look at grade, drainage, sun, and how you want to use the space, then talk through ideas on site.
About a week later, you see your backyard design in full color. You also get permit-ready construction documents you own, so what gets built matches what you approved.
One team builds every piece on one schedule. A typical space takes two to three weeks. Small projects can finish in a day, and multi-phase spaces can run several months.
Cost and budget
A basic paver patio starts around $4,000 to $5,000. Add an outdoor kitchen, fireplace, or pavilion and projects can reach $100,000. A typical space runs $30,000 to $40,000.
Concrete is the lowest-cost patio surface. Once it's stamped and colored, the price lands close to pavers, so the savings come from plain concrete.
Belgard and Techo-Bloc cost more than a plain slab and less than masonry. You get far more choice in pattern and color.
Masonry takes the most labor and material and costs the most per square foot. It's the choice when you want the look of natural stone.
Start with the patio now and add the kitchen or pavilion later. Phase one is placed and graded for phase two, so the next piece fits right in.

Sloped and tricky lots
Slopes, small footprints, and tricky drainage are a big part of what our licensed landscape architects design for. A grade change can become a retaining wall that doubles as a seat wall, and often ends up the best part of the yard.
