Clint Tucker grew up working in his grandmother's rose and azalea garden and earned his landscape architecture degree at UGA in 1996. Today, two licensed landscape architects on our staff plan every perennial planting we install, so you can enjoy your yard year round.

What we plant
Every project starts on paper, so each plant has its place before it arrives on site.
A one-of-a-kind plan for your yard, drawn so your beds look good in every season of the year.
Planting beds and irrigation for a newly built home. A typical new home install with irrigation takes two days.
We clear an overgrown front yard, replant it, and freshen the mulch in your flower beds so it looks brand new.
Your plan can hold space for big trees, added in a second phase once your budget is ready for them.
Why Sugar Hill Outdoors
We design and install our planting services ourselves, as we have for North Georgia yards since 1997.
Clint Tucker and Drew Oliver, our two licensed landscape architects, hold a legally protected Georgia title and plan your beds.
We've worked with BL Mullinax nursery for several years and source a lot of our plant material through SiteOne.
Our Urban Ag Council membership spans more than 25 years, and you can call anyone on our reference list.
Our general contractor's license covers design, planting, and irrigation under one contract, and you pay as each phase is finished.
Every planting project follows the same three steps, whatever the size of your yard.
A licensed landscape architect meets with you and gathers as much information as possible about your yard and how you want to use it.
You see your initial planting plan in 3D, then we make changes together until it fits the way you picture your yard.
We order your plants, lay out each one to plan, and install everything. Most projects take one day to several weeks.
Planting cost
Your price comes from the scope of work, from a single bed to a whole property. Here's where most planting projects land.

North Georgia soil
North Georgia's soil is dense, naturally acidic Piedmont clay, so healthy perennial beds need real soil amendment. Hardiness zones here run from about 7b to 8a, and yearly rainfall runs roughly 48 to 54 inches. Your planting plan takes the soil, zone, and rainfall into account.
