What we do

A patio built around your evenings outside

Your patio is where weeknight dinners, Saturday cookouts, and long conversations happen. We've built more than 2,500 patios since 1997, each one designed by a licensed landscape architect for the yard it sits in.

What we build

Pavers, natural stone, and stamped concrete

Pick the surface that fits your budget and the look you want, and we'll design the whole patio around it.

Belgard pavers

Belgard pavers in a wide range of colors and patterns, laid by the first Belgard Master Craftsman in Atlanta.

Techo-Bloc pavers and block

A second full catalog of pavers and block to choose from, installed by our crews as Certified Techo-Pros.

Stamped and colored concrete

A stamp and color add texture and tone to concrete, bringing its price close to pavers.

Stone, brick, and tile

Masonry takes the most hand labor and material. It's the premium choice when you want the look of natural stone underfoot.

Concrete patios

Plain concrete is the most budget-friendly way to get a patio, with room to add stamp and color.

Seat walls

A retaining wall at the patio edge can double as a seat wall, giving your guests a place to sit.

Why Sugar Hill Outdoors

The credentials behind every paver we set

As your patio contractor, we've designed and built across North Georgia since 1997, with more than 100 years of combined experience on our team.

Landscape architects design it

Two licensed landscape architects on staff, a protected title in Georgia, design your patio. Grade, drainage, and layout are settled before the first paver goes down.

Two paver certifications

As a paver contractor, we hold Belgard Master Craftsman status, which requires a documented record of finished work, and we're Certified Techo-Pros.

One licensed contractor

Our commercial and residential license covers every phase, from grading to the finished patio surface, under one contract with one point of contact.

Built for Georgia clay

Each patio sits on a compacted base engineered for red clay and our freeze-thaw seasons, so it stays level for years.

From first walk-through to finished patio

Every paver patio installation follows the same three steps, whatever the size of your yard.

01 / DISCOVER

Design consultation

A licensed landscape architect spends one to two hours on your property, looking at grade, drainage, sun, and how you'll use the patio.

02 / DESIGN

Your 3D design

About a week later, you see your patio in 3D and get permit-ready construction documents you own, with surface, pattern, and layout set.

03 / BUILD

Installation

A small patio can finish in a day, and larger builds can run several months. You pay as each phase is finished.

Patio cost

What a paver patio costs

Your price moves with size, surface, and anything you add to the space. Every project is priced to your site, and here's where most of ours land.

Typical pricing

  • Basic patio in pavers: starts around $4,000 to $5,000
  • Your site: each project is priced to what your yard needs
  • Surface: plain concrete costs least, pavers come next, and masonry costs most

Sloped yards

A level patio on a sloping lot

Rolling North Georgia lots often need a retaining wall first to create a level pad for the patio. We design the wall and patio together, and any wall over 4 feet is engineered and built to the plans.

Your patio questions, answered

Here's what homeowners ask most before their patio goes in.

A basic patio in pavers starts around $4,000 to $5,000. Size, surface, and site all shape your number, and your design consultation sets the exact price for your yard.

The design consultation takes one to two hours, and the design follows in about a week. Construction depends on scope. A small patio can finish in a day, and large multi-phase builds can run several months.

We plan around the season. North Georgia's freeze-thaw cycles are mild, and they shape how we compact paver base and when we pour and cure a mortar or concrete patio. We build that timing into your schedule during the design phase.

As a paver contractor, we install Belgard and Techo-Bloc, our two main paver and block brands. We were the first Belgard Master Craftsman in Atlanta, and we're Certified Techo-Pros with Techo-Bloc. You'll compare colors and patterns from both during your design.

It comes down to budget and look. Plain concrete is the most budget-friendly patio surface. Once you add a stamp and color, concrete costs about the same as pavers, and pavers give you more patterns and colors. Stone, brick, and tile cost the most because they take the most labor and material.

A compacted base. North Georgia's red clay shifts with moisture, and our winters bring mild freeze-thaw cycles, so we prepare and compact the base to hold your pavers level through every season.

Often, yes. Many rolling lots across North Georgia need a retaining wall to create a level pad first. We design the wall and patio together and have any wall over 4 feet engineered.

The design consultation is $150, and full designs start at $600. A licensed landscape architect walks your property and gives you a 3D design of your paver patio, with the surface, pattern, and layout set before building begins.
